Tyler Eifert is one of the best tight ends in the class of 2009. Last season he had 30 catches for 594 yards and 4 touchdowns for Bishop Dwenger High School. Eifert also tallied 40 tackles and 3 interceptions on defense.
With his combination of size and speed, there is no wonder Eifert has seen his recruitment take off. "I have offers from Purdue, Vanderbilt, Miami (OH), Indiana, and Wake Forest. I am also getting a lot of interest from Notre Dame.
When asked what made him such a good tight end, Eifert responded "A lot of it is just God given ability. I also think my athleticism and size help me a lot. I am able to go up and get jump balls and use my size to my advantage." Eifert said there is one part of his game he is constantly working on. "I am always working on my speed and trying to get faster."
Eifert made it clear that he is in contact with the staff at Wake Forest. "I talk to Coach Russ quite often. He has told me a lot about their offense and how they plan on using their tight ends. I haven't been able to visit Wake yet but I am going to do that soon. I really want to see the campus and what Wake has to offer."
Eifert claims no favorite at this point and he says distance won't be much a factor when decision time comes. He also stated he would like to get his recruitment out of the way before his season starts.
Recently, Eifert has visited Vanderbilt and Purdue and plans on attending the Notre Dame spring game. He will also attend the Nike camp in Columbus, Ohio on May 9th.
