Campanaro: Proud To Be A Deac

The Wake Forest football program received some exciting news last weekend when Michael Campanaro decided to be a Demon Deacon. caught up with Campanaro to get his thoughts about becoming a new member of the Wake Forest family.

Many Wake Forest fans have had their fingers crossed for the past few weeks hoping Michael Campanaro would be a Demon Deacon. Those fingers can officially be uncrossed now that Campanaro has made a verbal pledge to Coach Grobe and the Wake Forest football program.

"It just feels really good to be part of the program," said Campanaro. "I know I found the right place for me and I made a great decision. Now I can focus on winning another state championship at River Hill."

Many experts believed Campanaro has been favoring Wake for a while, so why did he wait to commit at the spring game? "When I visited Wake a few weeks ago for a spring practice it pretty much sealed the deal for me. On that visit I was able to talk with Coach Grobe a lot and after that I knew Wake was where I wanted to be. The coaches are just so honest and truthful and they recruit character people. I just wanted to wait until the spring game so I could commit in person."

So how did coach Grobe react when Campanaro gave him the good news? "He was really happy. I think he knew Wake was in good shape with me but he was still excited and he welcomed me to the family. He also told me he felt I could be a special player at Wake."

In addition to getting ready for his upcoming season, Campanaro said he would be helping the Deacs on the recruiting trail. "I definitely will be trying to get some of my friends on board. I talk with Leron (Eaddy) and Jordan (Love) quite a bit about how great it would be for us to play together at Wake. I know both of them really like Wake so we will see."

Deacon fans should be excited to have Campanaro in the fold. His versatility, competitiveness, athletic ability, and character are a perfect fit at Wake.
