Deacons Courting VA Guard

One of the players that has blown up this spring is Steven Pledger. The sharpshooting 6'4 guard has been outstanding for Boo Williams this spring and is getting his share of high major attention. DeaconSports.com caught up with Pledger to get his thoughts on recruiting and his recent play.

Steven Pledger has been one of the most surprising players on the AAU circuit so far. He started the AAU season off with a bang at the Boo Williams tournament and has kept up his stellar play. The result has been a lot of high major interest and offers.

"Things are really going great for me right now. I am just enjoying everything and taking it all in," said Pledger. "I really worked hard last season on my defense as well as my dribbling and all around game and that has really payed off lately. To be honest, I think I played like this during my high school season and it has just carried over to AAU ball."

Pledger has sen his recruitment sky rocket recently and now holds 3 offers and is getting plenty of interest. "I have offers from Oklahoma, VCU, and Hampton right now and I am hearing from Villanova, Syracuse, Clemson, and Wake Forest."

Pledger stated that he has been in contact with the Wake Forest coaching staff very recently. "I actually spoke with Coach Gaudio last night. He told me they are very interested in me and want me to come down for a few visits. I plan on going to Wake this summer with Tristan Spurlock and I am looking forward to it. Tristian and I have talked about playing college ball together quite a bit and it would be nice to do that."

Pledger made it very clear what he is looking for in a school. "I want a school that has a family atmosphere. I am a very family oriented person and I want the same thing in college. I also don't want to go too far from home."

Pledger claims no favorites at this point and plans on making his college decision this summer before his high school season begins.
