Drone Interested In The Deacs

Denzel Drone is a defensive end/linebacker prospect from Plant City, Florida. At 6'2, 215 pounds, Drone turned a lot of heads at a Nike camp last month. One of the teams that has taken notice of this talented prospect is Wake Forest.

Denzel Drone made a lot of big plays for Plant City High School last season which included 93 tackles, 46 tackles for loss, and 11 sacks. Drone, who runs a 4.65 40, uses his speed and aggressiveness to make plays on the football field.

"My older brother Marcus always taught me to be aggressive on the field and to use my speed to my advantage. I am always trying to get faster. I also never slack off in the weight room and I love the game and play with passion which is why I think I have been successful."

With his recent camp performance as well as his productive junior season, Drone is gaining a lot of interest. "Right now I only have one offer from Troy but I have about 20 to 25 school showing interest. Schools like Auburn, Kentucky, and Florida as well as Wake Forest and Boston College are showing interest. I am hearing from most of the ACC and SEC schools and a lot of the Florida schools."

Drone has recently been hearing from Wake Forest and likes what he has learned about the program. "Wake is recruiting me as a outside linebacker which is fine with me. We have a new coach this season and we are switching to a 3-4 defense and I will be playing outside linebacker this season. Coach Russ told me that they are sending their linebackers coach down next week to watch our spring game which I am excited about."

Drone also mentioned a few reasons why he is interested in Wake. "I know they have won 20 games the past two seasons and they won a bowl game this past year. I definitely want to take a look at them. They are in the ACC which is a great conference and I want to play against the best each and every Saturday."

Many factors will play a role in Drone's decision, one of which is education. "I want to go somewhere that I can get a great education. Of course I would love to play in the NFL, but I want a good degree to fall back on. Also, I want to go somewhere I can play for 4 years."

Some people believe that Drone and his teammate Duran Lowe are locks for USF if they were to offer, but that does not seem to be the case. "Duran and I would like to play together in college but we are not locks for USF. Honestly, USF is very close to me and I would like to go away for college so I can grow as a person so location is not going to be a factor."

Drone also made it clear he has no favorite now but would like to make a decision this summer if the right offer comes his way. He also stated he would like to visit Wake at some point so he could learn more about the program. Look for Drone to accumulate more offers before the end of the summer.
