Cheek Remains Interested In WFU

One of the best players at the Tournament of Champions this past weekend was Dominic Cheek, a 6'6 wing guard from New Jersey who can do it all. After another big game and win for Cheek this past weekend, DeaconSports had a chance to catch up with him and see if Wake Forest was still in the hunt for him.

Michael Jennings: Is Wake still on your list?
Dominic Cheek: Yes, Wake Forest is definitely on my list.

MJ: Wake really has made you a high priority and I know you have already been there unofficially.
DC: Yes sir, I went down there and had a real good visit. It was real nice and I liked everything about it.

MJ: You will have five official visits so do you see Wake getting one of those?
DC: Yes sir, they will definitely get one of them.

MJ: The rumors that have been swirling around that you favor Villanova, are they accurate?
DC: No, not at all.

MJ: Coming from the New Jersey/Philly area, will distance from home be a factor when you make your college decision?
DC: No, not at all. I will go play anywhere where I feel comfortable and where it will help me get to the next level.

MJ: Wake has some talented big men coming in this fall and you've said before that playing with those guys would make it easy for a wing guard to score some points when they can't focus all their attention on the outside.
DC: That definitely would make it easier.

Cheek, who also lists Texas, UCONN, Seton Hall, Rutgers, and Kansas among others, is a very polite young man who loves playing the game and is always smiling. After speaking with Dominic, he noted that we would keep in touch over the next several months as he narrows down his list to a final five that he said would include Wake Forest. While one can not tell by words alone how he feels about schools, I could tell by the way his face lit up when Wake was mentioned that he really likes Wake. DeaconSports will continue to follow Cheek's recruitment in the coming months.
