So far during this young AAU season, the KC Pump N Run team has had a very strong showing, in part because of the play of their talented lead man Michael Dixon.
"We are playing real well as a team so far. We are 20-2 and one of our losses was on a last second shot and we were short handed in our other loss," said Dixon. "I think I am playing pretty well right now. I am just trying to run the team and get my teammates involved and score when I need to."
One of the teams that has recently turned up the heat on Dixon is Wake Forest, a team he is very familiar with. "I know quite a bit about Wake and I have always liked the way they play. I have always been a big Chris Paul fan even when he was at Wake before he blew up in the NBA. I also remember watching Randolph Childress play there as well so I am very familiar with them."
Dixon is looking forward to his upcoming visit to Winston-Salem where he will participate in the Chris Paul/Jordan camp. "I am headed to Winston this Friday to take part in the Chris Paul camp. I am really looking forward to working with Chris and the other counselors. I am also going to try and go by the campus while I am there and check everything out."
There is no doubt Dixon takes pride in distributing the basketball and leading his team, but he also has a seldom used weapon in his arsenal. "I think one of my strengths is my mid-range game. I also like to push the ball and get the ball to my teammates when they are in a good position to score."
Dixon claims offers from Oklahoma, Missouri, Purdue, Cal, Kansas State, Baylor, Wake Forest, Louisville, Arkansas, and Marquette. He has said he does not have a favorite right now but would like to make a college choice before his senior season. Dixon plans on visiting Oklahoma, Missouri, and Cal this summer in addition to his upcoming trip to Winston-Salem.
