"Right now I'm wide open and I don't have any favorites yet," Jacquez Jenkins said. "I do like Florida, because that's always been my favorite school and my favorite to watch. I like USF too because of the location and they're an up and coming program," Jenkins said.
Florida has not offered the 6', 195 pound senior but South Florida has. Jenkins also claims offers from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa State, North Carolina, Wake Forest and Central Florida.
Though he says he has no favorites, that will change before too long. He will have a chance to check out some of the schools recruiting him in the coming weeks and that will help him narrow things down before the time comes to take his official visits. He plans on trimming his list to five before the start of his senior year of school.
"I'm supposed to be going to the South Florida camp next week and I'll be doing Friday Night Lights [at Florida] too. I'm supposed to go up to Tennessee, South Carolina and that's all I can remember right now."
Though he does not have a date set for a visit to Wake Forest, Jenkins said he would like to set something up for the near future.
"I've got to check [the schedule] out and discuss my plans. I like [Wake] because they have great academics. I just like them. I would say they're [near] the front line [of schools]. I'm going to be looking at how long the head coach is going to be there, the graduation rate, the academics, the program and the coaches."
As a junior at Lakewood High School in St. Petersburg, Florida, Jenkins passed for 700 yards, rushed for 400 yards and starred as a return man. His future, however, is probably on the other side of the ball.
"Most [schools] are actually saying corner," he explained. "Some are saying safety or just DB. But a lot are saying corner, and also some are saying receiver. I actually like corner, really. I'm experienced at both and I can play receiver too."
