Offers Piling Up For Beno

Offensive guard Raymond Beno now has more than 10 offers and he has been busy attending camps since the school year ended. Where does Wake Forest fit into the equation and is he nearing a decision?

Raymond Beno, a 6'2, 280-pound guard from Newnan High School in Georgia, holds scholarships from Air Force, Navy, Army, Wake Forest, Georgia Southern, Southern Miss, Charleston Southern, Western Carolina, Louisiana Tech, South Alabama and Troy, according to his father, Raymond Beno Sr.

"He's been to a few camps already," his father said. "Georgia Tech, South Carolina, LSU, Auburn and Troy State. I was there with him. He had a pretty good experience at Georgia Tech. They're definitely going to be looking at him a little more closely but they didn't give him an offer. The other good one was South Carolina. They looked closely at him and felt his performance went well.

"At LSU, he didn't really enjoy that one all that much. They focused on the guys they were recruiting for the most part. At Troy State he got an offer. The coaches were really impressive. They were all personable."

Wake Forest remains near the top of Beno's list at this point. "They're at the top of his list as far as schools he'd like to go to along with the academies and Troy State. He does plan on going to a couple more camps. He'll go to West Virginia, Southern Miss, Ole Miss and Vanderbilt, and that's about it.

"I don't know if he'll visit Wake Forest. I know he wants to, it's just a matter of when he's able to. I think he's going to wait until he's done with all of his camps and all these visits. He'll be going to the academies too, and after that he'll try to make his decision. It may be towards the beginning of the season, and like I said, he really likes Wake Forest, the academies and Troy State."
