Blake Takes Official

One of Florida's many elite athletes, cornerback Devin Blake, took a visit to Wake Forest this past weekend. Blake spoke with DeaconSports Sunday night concerning his trip.

Florida cornerback Devin Blake is one of the top cornerback prospects in the state in the class of 2003. A blazing fast cornerback with 4.3 speed, Blake has seen his interest level from Wake Forest peak in the past few weeks.

Although Blake had committed to Tulane earlier in the year, his recruitment was still somewhat open. This past weekend, Blake took an official visit to Wake Forest.

"It was pretty good," Blake said. "Everything was OK. To me it went extremely well. They showed me a lot of love."

"I got there Friday about 6:00, ate, then toured the campus and the stadium. We saw the entire campus. We did everything really that you would do on an official visit."

While he loved the campus, the coaches at Wake Forest really stood out with Blake. "They were great," he said. "All of them. They're very nice guys. I met all of them while I was there."

While his visit went well, his season did not quite go as well. "We finished 3-7," Blake said. "It didn't go as we hoped, but it was a good experience and a good learning lesson. It was an alright season.

"I had 83 tackles, four blocked FGs, no interceptions because no one would throw my way much, but a couple of pass breakups."

Speaking of breakups, did this visit to Wake Forest do anything to breakup his commitment to Tulane? Did this visit change things with his verbal commitment to the Green Wave? "No comment," Blake says. "We'll see."
