Wake Still An Option For Wilkes

Offensive lineman Khalil Wilkes is still sorting out the recruiting process but he knows he is very interested in a few schools. Wake Forest is one of them.

DeaconSports.com caught up with the 6'4, 285 pound lineman and tried to get a feel for where he stands these days. A man of few words when talking about the recruiting process, Wilkes is also a man of many offers. He holds offers from nearly every school he is considering so the auditioning for coaches is over and done with. Now he is just trying to narrow things down.

Wilkes said the four schools sitting atop his list at present are Wake Forest, Rutgers, Pittsburgh and Stanford in no particular order, but he holds plenty of other offers and isn't writing anyone off yet.

"There's nothing really new going on. Nothing's changed," Wilkes said. "I'm just trying to figure out which (unofficial) visits I'm about to take. I'll be doing those sometime in July. I really don't know where I'm going to go yet."

Wilkes has already attended a one-day camp at Tennessee and enjoyed the experience. The Volunteers have offered the rising senior from St. Peter's Preparatory School in Jersey City, N.J.

He insisted he is keeping the recruiting process open at this point despite his admitted interest in those four schools. As for Wake Forest, he remains highly interested.

"I really like them," he said. "I'm definitely thinking about visiting soon."

Wilkes could play tackle or guard once he arrives at college.
