Noel Johnson is one of the best players in the class of 2009. He has a great combination of size, basketball skills, and work ethic. Johnson has been busy this summer putting his skills on display at numerous AAU events and elite camps.
"The spring and summer have been real busy so far but things are slowing down a bit," said Johnson. "I will be playing in Vegas soon as well as a tournament in Miami. Right now I am just getting ready for July."
Like many great players, Johnson is constantly working on his game and looking to get better. "I am working on my defense a lot this summer as well as putting on some weight for next season. I am lifting weights as much as I can."
Johnson is also working with former LSU and NBA player Chris Jackson when he is in town. "I work with Chris whenever he is in the States. He has been overseas for 5 months but when he is here I work with him as much as possible." Jackson has also given Johnson some advice about the recruiting process. "He tells me to just to relax and enjoy the process."
Johnson is getting plenty of attention from college coaches including Wake Forest's Dino Gaudio. "Coach Dino has been down to see me three times so far. I like Wake a lot but I am still wide open as far as recruiting goes. I will be taking visits in August and September with my parents." When asked if Wake will get a visit, Johnson responded that Winston-Salem is a certain destination. "Definitely," he said. "I plan on getting down to Wake and see what they have to offer."
Johnson has a good idea of what he is looking for in a school. "I am focusing a lot on academics. In addition, I want to go somewhere that I can make an immediate impact. Distance and conference affiliation will not be a factor for me."
With his skill level and work ethic, look for Johnson to make a immediate impact wherever he ends up.
