With 14 scholarships already accounted for in their 2009 class, Wake Forest seems to be filling all of their needs and getting many of their top targets. One of those targets that is still on the board is defensive back Demontrae Hurst. Hurst has double digit offers at this point but has been able to narrow his list a bit.
"Things have settled down recently," said Hurst. "I am now getting the chance to call the coaches and do a lot of research on the schools I am considering. I have been able to narrow things a bit. I am taking my time with the process."
Is Wake still on the list? "Oh yeah," he said. "They are still up there on my list. I talk to Coach Billings once a week to let him know how things are going. We are developing a good relationship and we get along real well."
Hurst also mentioned that he plans to visit Wake soon. "Coach Billings wants me to visit soon and I want to visit soon. He wants me to visit on September 6th for their game with Ole Miss and I hope to do that. I would like to get up there and meet everyone and check things out."
Hurst also stated he still planned on waiting until after his season to make a decision. He wants to take all of his visits and make sure of his choice before he makes it.
With four seniors in the two deep depth chart in the secondary this coming season, there is no doubt Wake will sign one or two more defensive backs in 2009. With his combination of size, speed, and cover skills, Hurst could have a great opportunity to play early if he ends up at Wake.
