Callender Marks Wake Visit In December

Prime-time running back prospect Andre Callender has just recently placed Wake Forest in his top five and will visit Wake in the coming weeks. Why? Find out in DeaconSports' exclusive interview with the New Jersey star.

New Jersey star running back Andre Callender has five favorites on his list these days. While Callendar had not mentioned Wake Forest before around a week ago, Wake is now one in his top five – and Callender will visit the Deacs.

"Right now [my favorites] are Michigan State, Boston College, Wake, Clemson, and UNC. I have offers from all of them and about 16 scholarships total."

Callender told DeaconSports he has set up two visits so far. "I'll visit Boston College on December 7th and on Dec 14th I'm going to Wake Forest."

Wake seems to have just popped out of nowhere – why have they surfaced so fast lately? "I had Penn State on there and they had recruited two other running backs and are not showing as much interest anymore," Callender said. "I really like Wake. I know that it's a small school and they run the ball a lot. They're in a good conference too." Callender, who is being recruited primarily by Coach Troy Calhoun at Wake, had a spectacular season, gaining over 1400 yards on the year.

I've got good speed but I'm working on my quickness right now. I'm around a 4.4 or 4.3 in the forty." Callender also told DeaconSports that he can do an impressive 14 reps at 185.

Stay tuned to DeaconSports in the coming weeks for more on Callender's recruitment.
