Swank's Kick Lifts Wake Forest

Wake Forest kicker Sam Swank connected on a 41-yard field goal with three seconds remaining on Saturday as the Demon Deacons escaped with a 30-28 win over Ole Miss at BB&T Field in Winston-Salem.

• Ole Miss won the toss and deferred to the 2nd half
• With 11:51 in the first, Riley Skinner opened scoring with a 14-yard touchdown pass to Kevin Harris, his first receiving touchdown since scoring on a 12-yard pass from Brett Hodges in the season opener last season
• With 4:12 left in the first quarter, Gerald Harris caught a 4-yard touchdown pass from Jevan Snead to tie the score at 7
• At the end of the 1st quarter Wake Forest and Ole Miss were tied at 7
• With 11:45 left into the 2nd quarter, Jevan Snead escaped from Alphonso Smith and threw a 28-yard touchdown pass to Shay Hodge for a 14-7 Ole Miss lead
• With 1 second left in the 1st half, Sam Swank kicked a 22-yard field goal to bring the Demon Deacons to within 4 at 14-10 at halftime.
• With 11:18 in the 2nd half, Kevin Patterson intercepted Jevan Snead. It was his 4th career interception
• On Snead's next pass, Brandon Ghee picked Ole Miss' Dexter McCluster off, his 1st of his career
• On 3rd and 9 on the ensuing drive with just over 8 minutes left, Boldin caught a 26-yard fade pass for a crucial 1st down. Thanks to that play, Wake Forest's Sam Swank scored on a 27-yard field goal to bring the score to 14-13
• With Swank's second field goal of the game, he made the Ole Miss contest his 19th career game with two or more field goals
• With 1:35 in the 3rd, Marshall Williams caught his first career touchdown, a 24-yard throw from Riley Skinner. Wake Forest led 20-14 at this point.
• At the end of the 3rd quarter, Wake Forest led Ole Miss 20-14.
• On first play of the 4th quarter, Alphonso Smith fumbled a punt return at the Wake Forest 30 yard line. Two players later, Jevan Snead connected with Dexter McCluster for a 30–yard touchdown for a 21-20 Ole Miss lead.
• Wake Forest followed that up with an eight play, 80-yard drive capped by a 12–yard touchdown run by Brandon Pendergrass. The redshirt freshman running back had 42 rushing yards on the scoring drive in leading Wake Forest to a 27-21 lead with 11:37 left.
• Cordera Eason's 5 yard TD pass from Jevan Snead gave the Rebels a 28-27 lead with 1:01 to play in the game.
• Riley Skinner's Demon Deacon offense drove the length of the field and set up Sam Swank for his third field goal of the game, a 47-yard game winner with three seconds remaining.
• Receiver D.J. Boldin caught 11 passes for 123 yards in Saturday's contest. A year ago, Boldin caught just 11 passes for 127 yards in the entire season
• Riley Skinner's 43 passes and 32 completions were both career highs.
• With the win, Wake Forest won their 400th career game. Wake Forest is now 400-581-33 overall.
• Wake Forest is now 2-0 all-time in games with Ole Miss.
• Ole Miss' last win over an ACC foe was in the 1971 Peach Bowl against Georgia Tech.
