Ryan Kelly is one of the most skilled big men in the class of 2009. With his skill set and work ethic both on and off the court, Kelly has seen his recruitment sky rocket in 2008. With scholarship offers from Wake Forest, Duke, UNC, Notre Dame, Georgetown, and others, Kelly is now in the middle of taking his official visits and going through the decision making process.
Two weekends ago, Kelly was able to take an official to Wake Forest. "I really enjoyed the visit," said Kelly. "I was able to spend a lot of time with the players which was important to me. They were great guys both on and off the court. We played some pick-up ball which was fun. I also had the opportunity to meet Maya Angelou which was amazing. Overall, it was a great visit."
As a side note, Kelly was spotted at the Wake/Ole Miss game wearing a red shirt. "That was just a mistake on my part," Kelly said with a laugh. "I took a little bit of heat on that one from some of the students but it was all in good fun."
As far as future officials go, Kelly only has one more lined up at this time. "I visited Notre Dame last weekend and I will go to Georgetown this weekend. That is all I have planned right now. Duke and UNC are so close to home I really don't need to official there. After my Georgetown visit I evaluate everything and if I feel the need to take another official I will."
Kelly has been very steadfast with his process so far and is taking the time to look at all his options. Kelly is making sure wherever he ends up will be the right fit for him both on and off the court. Ryan Kelly is the type of person that would be a great asset to a university even if he weren't a great basketball player.
