Stewart Narrows List; Talks WFU Visit

Ari Stewart is one of the most athletic and versatile players in the 2009 class. Recently, Stewart has narrowed his focus down to just two schools. DeaconSports recently spoke with Stewart about his two finalists and his recent trip to Wake Forest.

Ari Stewart has the ability to do a lot of things on the basketball court. He can slash to the basket, hit the jumper, and play solid defense. With his prowess on the court, it is no wonder that WFU head basketball coach Dino Gaudio and his staff have made Stewart a priority for their 2009 class. Recently, Stewart made his first trip to the Wake Forest campus.

"Man, I loved everything at Wake," said Stewart. "The campus, facilities, [and] everything was great. I had a chance to play ball with the current players and I played really good. I got along very well with the players at Wake. I loved it there and had a great time."

Stewart is down to two schools and it sounds like both teams are neck-and-neck for his services. "I am down to Wake and Oregon," he said. "I really like them both and time will tell where I end up. I planned on visiting Oregon this weekend but we may have to reschedule it. I have visited Oregon before so I am not even positive that I will take a official there. I may be done with visits, we will see."

Stewart also mentioned coach Gaudio visited him yesterday in Georgia. He believes that Gaudio and the WFU staff has clearly made him a top priority.

With Al-Farouq Aminu already on board, the addition of Stewart would be a big pick up for the Demon Deacons. Stewart and Aminu would give Wake Forest elite forwards that would be a match-up nightmare for opponents. Stewart would also fit in great with the up tempo style of offense at Wake.
