Super athletic small forward Ari Stewart made a call this morning that made a lot of Wake supporters very happy. Stewart decided last night that the time was right to make his decision.
"I made up my mind last night," said Stewart. "My relationship with the coaching staff and current players was very important in my decision to commit."
Stewart plans to bring a lot to the table when he gets to campus next year. "I promise the Wake fans I will bring a lot of excitement and energy to the team. I like to get out and run and attack the basket. My athleticism is a big strength."
Stewart also mentioned that the Wake staff was in a meeting this morning when he made the call. "The coaches were in a recruiting meeting when I called to commit. Coach Gaudio was real hyped when I told him I was coming to Wake."
With the addition of Stewart, the Deacons get a player with tons of athletic ability and basketball skill. As noted before, Stewart has the ability to attack the basket and finish with authority when he gets there. Stewart has also shown the ability to hit the medium range jumper and the three ball.
Stewart joins Winston-Salem native C.J. Harris as the two members of the Wake Forest basketball class of 2009.
DeaconSports will continue to update Stewart's progress throughout his senior season.
