Reco McCarter has already got the attention of many Division I schools but don't tell him that. McCarter is working harder than ever to improve his game and get ready for his junior season.
"I am working hard in the weight room right now," said McCarter. "I really want to get stronger. I am also working a lot on my jump shot. We are also practicing a lot on our own as a team. Coach Jones really wants to spread the floor and get up and down the court this season. We are also going to run a type of Princeton style offense with a lot of penetrate and kick type of things."
As far as goals for the upcoming season, McCarter says he and his teammates have the same goals that everyone should have. "I think the goal for any team is to win the state title. As far as me personally, I want to get a double-double every game this season."
McCarter's recruitment is in full swing and some new suitors have stepped up recently. "I have an offer from Virginia Tech and I am getting a lot of interest from Clemson, Auburn, VCU, Virginia, ECU, Temple and Wisconsin in addition to Wake."
McCarter said he still has a clear number one at this point. "Wake is still at the top of my list. I was up there [recently] for the Bob Gibbons Clinic. While I was there I was able to talk with Ish Smith and Ty Walker. All the people at Wake are real cool. I get along with all of the guys there. I really like Wake."
With some experts comparing him to a young Josh Howard, the future looks bright for McCarter. He is not only super athletic and skilled but McCarter also possesses the competitive fire needed to be successful. He also has the determination to get better and is never satisfied with his performances.
