James Kicking Around Options

Kicker Chris James is tossing around several different options as to where he will spend the next four years of his life kicking. DeaconSports spoke with James this week about his recruitment.

Kicker Chris James' college future is still up in the air and more than likely will be for at least a few more weeks. DeaconSports spoke with James Sunday about his recruitment.

"Really, I'm looking at Wake Forest, Jacksonville State, Troy State, Valdosta State, and Memphis State," James said. "I've got unofficial offers but no one has really offered yet."

Asked what schools really stand out, Chris James named two schools that were above the rest. "Two schools [stand out], Wake Forest and Troy State. I went to Wake Forest four or five weeks ago and am going to Troy State soon on an unofficial visit."

As for Wake Forest, he loved a lot of what he saw on the Winston-Salem campus. "I really like the academic programs," James said. "I like their stadium and the head coach a lot too. All the assistant coaches nice too."

This past season, James hit 40-43 PATs, two of which were blocked. He also hit 7-13 field goals with long of 45, missing attempts of 53 and 54 yards. James has hit a field gold of 57 yards in practice.

As for when he will commit, James is not sure about that at this point either. "I'm not really sure [when I'll commit]," James said. "I'm going to wait. I think if Wake or Troy State offers I'd go there, but for now I'm just waiting on an official offer."
