Young, a two sport star for Our Lady of Good Counsel, was a bit disappointed about how his football season ended this year but feels the future is bright.
"We went 11 and 1?, said Young, "and we didn't lose until the championship game which was disappointing but overall we improved as the season went along and we have a lot coming back next season."
Young played both ways this season and was very productive on both sides of the ball. "My sophomore year I played mostly defense but this year I played both ways. I had 18 catches for about 400 yards and 4 touchdowns on offense. On defense I had 34 tackles, 5 picks (one for a touchdown), 13 pass break-ups, and a fumble recovery."
For his efforts, Young was named 1st Team All-WCAC Conference, 1st Team All-DCSportsFan, and 2nd Team All-State.
The one time Stanford commit explained his decision to open his recruitment back up. "I thought about it a lot the past few weeks. I realized that even though I like the coaches at Stanford, they may not be there. Also, I have a lot more options now and want to look at them and see what they have to offer. I just want to make the best decision."
A plethora of Division 1 schools have recently been showing interest in Young including Wake Forest, South Carolina, Virginia, UCLA, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Vanderbilt, Michigan State, Michigan, Penn State, Oregon, and Virginia Tech.
"My offers right now are Stanford, Virginia Tech, Maryland, and Wake Forest."
Young mentioned a few reasons why his is interested in Jim Grobe's program. "I really like how they are recruiting here in Maryland and they are a up and coming program. They have Michael Campanaro coming in next year from my area and he is a real good player. I have played basketball against Mike since we were like 11."
Young is currently in the middle of his basketball season and stated he would sit down with his parents and make out a schedule for recruiting visits when his season was over. He does have a few things he will be looking for when those visits start. "Academics are important to me. Also how well I get along with the current players and coaching staff as well as the direction of the team."
