Daniels A Deacon Priority

One of the most explosive players in the 2011 class is Word of God guard Bishop Daniels. Daniels already holds a handful of big time offers including one from Wake Forest. DeaconSports spoke with Daniels about his recent trip to Winston-Salem.

Bishop Daniels is adjusting to his new teammates at Word of God and has been a key player in the Holy Rams 9-4 record. "The transition is going well," said Daniels. "It was a bit harder than the jump from middle to high school ball but it's going well. I already knew some of the guys at Word of God so that made it a bit easier."

The team is currently 9-4 but Daniels feels like they are just hitting their stride. "The team is playing a lot better now. It took a little time for all of us to get on the same page but we are coming together and playing good ball."

Daniels is a very explosive guard with a ton of skill and potential, yet he is still a team player. "I will do whatever I need to do to get on the court and help my team win. Whatever the coaches ask me to do I will do it."

Only a sophomore, Daniels is getting plenty of Division I attention including three offers. "I have offers from N.C.State, Wake Forest, and Virginia Tech right now. Clemson and Memphis are also showing a lot of interest. To be honest, I am not worried about recruiting at this point. I just want to go out there and prove that I am a top level player."

Daniels recently visited Wake and was able to watch their big win over then #3 North Carolina. "I really loved the visit. The atmosphere was great. The people all around us were really into the game and the crowd was crazy. I really loved it."

When asked where Wake is on his list, Daniels responded, "They are way up there. Wake is one of my top schools. I am very comfortable with the coaches and players at Wake. I love the way they play and how the coaches handle their players."

Daniels has no timetable for his decision and said he will do it "whenever it feels right." He also mentioned that he has the ability to play both guard positions but feels that he will be a point guard at the next level.
