Deacons Make Bello A Priority

The Wake Forest staff has been hard at work eyeing targets for their 2010 and 2011 classes. One of the few 2011 players they have offered at this point is 6'3 wing Deuce Bello from Westchester Academy in High point, N.C. DeaconSports talked with Bello about his team and individual success so far this season.

Deuce Bello has been key in leading Westchester Academy to a great season thus far. The 6'3 slasher is happy with the team's performance so far but has a bigger goal in mind. "We are 18-1 right now," said Bello. "I feel like the team is playing real well. Our main focus right now is winning the state title which I think we can do."

Individually, Bello has had a fantastic sophomore campaign. Bello is averaging 21 points a game including a season high 45. "I really think I am playing better than last year. I have learned to be more unselfish and get my teammates involved. My only focus right now is winning the state title."

Bello has been working hard on his game and has a good grasp on his strengths and weaknesses at this point. "I think my strengths are my speed and quickness. I have a good ability to get to the basket. Right now, I am working on my mid range jumper and outside game. I am also working on getting stronger."

Many Division I schools have noticed Bello's talents and extended him scholarship offers. "I have offers from Baylor, Wake Forest, and Oklahoma State. I am also hearing a lot from Duke, Miami, N.C. State, Notre Dame, Oregon, Virginia, and USC."

One team who has seemed to make Deuce a high priority is Wake Forest. Head coach Dino Gaudio has been spotted watching Bello multiple times this season. "Wake is really recruiting me hard. I like their style of play and am developing a great relationship with coach Gaudio and coach Kelsey."

Bello claims no favorite at this time and has no timetable for making a college choice. Look for Wake Forest to continue and make the talented Bello a high priority for their 2011 class.
