Dodd Enjoys Wake Visit

South Carolina gunslinger Chas Dodd helped lead Byrnes High School to the 2008 State Championship. His recruitment has begun to pick up now that the season is over. DeaconSports spoke with Dodd about his recent visit to Wake.

The 2008 season was another great one for the Byrnes High School Rebels. The 2008 state champions were led by junior quarterback Chas Dodd. In two seasons, Dodd has thrown for over 6,000 yards and 60 touchdowns. But to him, it is all about winning.

"Last season was great," stated Dodd. "Winning the state title was big. Also, going to play other great teams all over the country was a great experience. I felt I played well last year and hope to repeat that this coming season. I have a bunch of great playmakers and I just do my job and get them the ball."

When asked about his strengths as a quarterback, Dodd responded, "I think my pocket presence and arm strength are my best qualities. I have also been working on my speed as well."

Recruiting has begun to pick up for Dodd and two teams seem to be leading the charge. "I hear the most from Wake and Virginia. I also have been getting letters from FSU, Georgia Tech, South Carolina, Oregon, and Clemson. I would say right now, Wake and Virginia are showing the most interest." Dodd recently visited Wake for their Junior Day and enjoyed the experience. "It was a great experience. I really like the school and atmosphere up there. I liked how the classes were close together. Also, the quarterback coach and my recruiting coordinator are really nice. I really liked everything about the visit. We also went to the basketball game which was real fun."

Dodd indicated he will be going to South Carolina's Junior Day and also plans to attend a Wake Forest summer camp.
