McCarter Has A Plan

Reco McCarter is a name Wake coaches and fans have known about for a long time. The ultra athletic SF/SG from Goldsboro has seen his recruitment pick up in recent weeks. Despite the new interest he is getting, McCarter knows where he wants to be...

Reco McCarter has a skill set any college coach would love. He is long, athletic, and has one goal on his mind -- winning. The talented wing also has a great handle for a 6'7 player and has an uncanny knack for finding open teammates. His jumper has really come a long way thanks to his hard work over the last .

"I wanted to really improve my jumper and ability to use my right hand," said McCarter. "I think I did that last season. I also tried to become more of a leader on and off the court as well."

With AAU season in full swing, McCarter has a simple goal for his Greensboro Gaters team. "I just want to win games. I also want to continue and work hard on my weaknesses and show everyone what a great player I am. I think in the past I was a bit underrated due to my inconsistency. One game I was great and the next I just played o.k. I want to bring it every time I step on the court."

With his tremendous skill set and work ethic, McCarter's recruitment has really picked up. Boston College and Maryland have both visited recently and are showing strong interest in McCarter. He already holds offers from Virginia Tech, Clemson, and N.C. State. But McCarter is not caught up with the recruiting scene.

"To be honest, I am not focused on all the new attention. I know where I want to go. I know deep in my heart where I want to go to college and my plan is to commit there as soon as possible."

Could Wake Forest be the school for McCarter? "Wake has been recruiting me for so long. A lot of schools are just now coming around but Wake has stuck with me since I was at Charis Prep. Wake has really stuck with me."
