Charlotte TE Has Wake Ties

6'5, 210 pound tight end prospect Braxton Deaver looks to be one of the best tight end prospects in the state of North Carolina. With a good blend of size and route running ability, Deaver is a big weapon for Providence High school.

Braxton Deaver had a big season last year as a wide receiver for Providence High School. He accumulated over 700 yards and 12 touchdowns on 47 catches. Deaver projects as a tight end on the next level, but in the meantime he is finding success in another sport.

"I actually play lacrosse and have been doing that all spring," said Deaver. "We are 16-1 right now and are in the playoffs."

On the football field, Deaver brings a lot to the table. "I think my strengths as a player are my route running and size. I am able to go up and get the ball. Also, I am not afraid at all to go across the middle."

Despite not being able to make any visits this spring due to his lacrosse schedule, Deaver still has two Division I offers at this point. "East Carolina and Marshall have offered me at this point. I am also hearing from Wake, Vanderbilt, Clemson, Virginia Tech, and South Carolina."

Deaver has a family connection with Wake Forest, and admits he has always liked the Demon Deacons. "My dad played ball at Wake and I have grown up a Wake fan. I went to watch them in the Orange Bowl as well as the Meineke Car Care Bowl. The staff at Wake is great. I really like their philosophy. The project me as a tight end or H-back in their system. I will be at Wake's camp this summer and hope to earn an offer then."

Deaver plans to be patient with the recruiting process and see what comes his way. "When I commit will be decided by what is on the table for me. I want to see what is out there. I am not going to pledge somewhere and then end up going back on that. I will tell you Wake is very high on my list."
