Fast, Physical, & Aggressive

Christian McCain is one of the most talented players in North Carolina's class of 2010. The 6'6, 200 pound linebacker out of Northern Guilford has plenty of Division I interest including an offer from Wake Forest. DeaconSports spoke with McCain about his offseason and where he stands with the recruiting process.

Imagine being a high school quarterback and seeing a 6'6 force like Christian McCain coming at you full speed ready to put your lights out. Not a pleasant thought -- and that is how McCain likes it.

"I play fast, physical, and aggressive," says McCain. "You can't be a punk and play my position. I am very aggressive on the field and I cover a lot of ground. I don't run away from anyone."

McCain has been busy with combines and working out preparing for next season. "I work out at Velocity every other day and I also train at Proehlific Park. I really like Ricky Proehl and the people I train with there. I did the 5 Star combine there recently which was great. To get invited to the combines you have to be the best at your position. I like going out there and competing and doing my best to prove how good I am."

At this point, McCain has quite a few big offers and has two teams currently on top. "Wake and Maryland are recruiting me the hardest and they are at the top of my list. I also have offers from Syracuse, Oregon, West Virginia, California, and Michigan."

McCain says he has a great relationship with the Wake staff and has visited Wake on more than one occasion. "I have a great relationship with Wake. I can call the coaches up and just talk about anything with them. Coach Mac and Coach Grobe are great guys. They want me to come in and play stand up end/outside linebacker. I also like the fact that Wake is close to home."

So what is important to McCain when he is looking at schools? "Graduation rate. I could get hurt and my dream of playing in the NFL could be over. I know if I go to a school like Wake that I will graduate with a great education and still get a good job."

Some rumors have floated about where McCain will play next year. He made it very clear he will be playing for Northern Guilford.

McCain also said he wants to take some official visits before making a decision and may wait until signing day to do so.
