K.J. Impresses At Camp

Wake Forest hosted over 300 prospects at their first football camp of the summer last weekend on campus. One of the most impressive prospects at the camp was Kevin Johnson from River Hill High School.

Kevin Johnson showed everyone what he was made of this past weekend at Wake Forest's football camp. He looked very smooth in the defensive back drills showing good technique as well as plenty of speed and quickness. Johnson also excelled in the one on one portions of the camp, shutting down the receivers he went up against. He has great height and length for a corner as well.

"The camp went great," said Jonson. "I had the longest broad jump at camp which was 10'6 and I ran a 4.51 forty which was also good for the camp. After the testing, we did position drills to get warmed up. I felt real good during the position drills. We then broke for lunch and D. J. Jones showed me around a bit. After lunch we had one on one's. After my fourth rep in one on one's, Coach Billings pulled me aside and said he had seen enough and loved everything about me. He told me I didn't have to work out anymore if I didn't want to. All he said is that he would like for me to put on a little weight. He also said he needed to talk with the other coaches but I should expect to hear from him very soon."

If Wake does offer, where would they stand with the talented defensive back? "Wake is number one on my list. Right now it's Wake, Wisconsin, and West Virginia. Last weekend was only my second trip to Wake and I love the feel of everything down there. Everyone is so welcoming."

Johnson also stated he will be attending two more one day camps, UNC and UConn, later this month. He plans on making a decision later this month or the beginning of July.
