Barksdale Enjoys WFU Visit

One of the top 25 players in 2011 took a recent visit to Wake Forest and came away very impressed. C.J. Barksdale, a dynamic forward out of Danville, Virginia, made the short trip to Winston-Salem this week. Deaconsports spoke with Barksdale about his visit and where Wake stands on his list.

Coach Dino Gaudio and his staff are hard at work recruiting the 2011 class. One of the players that has surfaced as a high priority for the Deacs is 6'7 power forward C.J. Barksdale.

On Tuesday, Barksdale was able to make his first visit to Wake and really liked what he saw.

"The visit was great," said Barksdale. "I met Coach Gaudio and talked with him for awhile. I was able to get familiar with Wake. We toured the campus and also visited the Miller Center. It was the nicest practice facility I have seen yet."

Coach Gaudio and his staff talked with C.J. about their plans for him if he was to become a Demon Deacon. "The coaches told me that I am very high on their list. They talked about their system and how I would fit in at Wake. I really like how they play. I think I would fit in well there. The coaches want me to come back in August and meet the players and play some pick-up games with them. I definitely plan on doing that."

So where does Wake Forest stand with the ultra talented prospect? "Wake is at the top of my list. The have made a good impression on me."

If the Deacs are able to get Barksdale, it would be a huge start to their 2011 class. He has an uncanny knack for rebounding the basketball and has a nice array of moves down low. Barksdale is also a tremendous worker and fights for everything on the court. He is also expanding his game a bit and looks to be getting physically stronger each time we see him.
