2011 Intro: Shannon Scott

As the July evaluation period approaches, one name Demon Deacon fans need to keep an eye on is 2011 point guard prospect Shannon Scott. The 6'2 lead guard out of Alpharetta, Georgia is poised to be one of the best lead guards in his class. DeaconSports spoke with Scott about his recruitment as well as his AAU season thus far.

Shannon Scott is one of the best point guard prospects in the 2011 class. Scott has a nice blend of basketball savvy, quickness, and ball skills to go along with a solid jumper and nice court vision.

Despite a recent foot injury at the NBAPA Camp a few weeks ago, Scott says his spring and summer has been going well with his AAU team the Southern Kings 16u.

"Our team has been doing well. Every event we are in we get to the finals or semi-finals. I think I have been playing real well."

Scott really has a good feel for the game and knows what he likes to do on the court. "I like to put a lot of pressure on the defense. I can penetrate and get open shots for my teammates. I play real fast with the ball. I pattern my game after Deron Williams a little bit."

Although it is early in his recruitment, Scott is hearing from plenty of Division I schools. "Clemson, Alabama, UConn, Wake, Florida State, Miami, and Georgia Tech have all contacted me."

Scott keeps a close eye on ACC basketball and knows quite a bit about the Wake Forest program. "I like them a lot. They have a real good history with players like Tim Duncan and Chris Paul. Coach Larue has talked to me about coming up for a visit."

Scott admitted he would like to play in the ACC but the main thing he wants to do is find the right fit regardless of where that is. He also stated he has no timeframe for a decision.

Wake Forest seems to be looking to add a point guard in their 2011 class and Shannon Scott is definitely one to keep a very close eye on.
