MD OL Talks Recruiting

With just a couple of scholarships remaining for the class of 2010, Wake Forest's football coaching staff is careful with the few remaining grants. One offensive lineman the coaches are recruiting full force is DeMatha Catholic (MD) prospect Shane Johnson.

Shane Johnson is a 6'5, 300 pound offensive lineman out of DeMatha Catholic in Hyattsville, Maryland, one of the top programs in the nation year-in and year-out. Johnson is one of Maryland's best prospects and colleges around the country have taken note.

A host of schools including California, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Wake Forest, Virginia, and Boston College have offered Johnson a scholarship. Although he has begun to determine his official visits, Johnson is hesitant to name his favorites. "It's been going good so far," he said of his recruitment. "I haven't narrowed [my favorites] down yet."

The Maryland offensive lineman has decided on one official visit for sure. "I'm about to set up a visit to Cal," said Johnson, "but I don't know when yet." Johnson has also made several unofficial visits including trips to Rutgers, Wake, Pittsburgh, and Virginia.

According to Johnson, he enjoyed his time at Wake Forest is very interested in the Demon Deacon program. "I'm definitely still considering Wake, no doubt about it," he noted. He also confirmed that he will be taking an official visit to Wake.

"What I like about Wake is the campus, it is not super huge which is attractive to me and I like the linemen coach there. Also, I can definitely see myself going there and I will be making a trip there."
