Barksdale Leads G.W. Past Dudley

Junior C.J. Barksdale helped bring George Washington High School back from a 17 point deficit last night against a very talented Greensboro Dudley team. Barksdale recorded 20 points, 22 rebounds, and 8 blocks in the 69-62 victory. DeaconSports spoke briefly with Barksdale after the big win.

In a clash between the #1 ranked team in Virginia and the #3 ranked team in North Carolina, it was Virginia's George Washington Eagles that soared to the 69-62 victory over Greensboro Dudley. One of the keys to G.W.'s victory was the play of junior big man C.J. Barksdale. Barksdale was 8-14 from the field and 4-7 from the line for 20 points. He also wiped the boards clean collecting a whopping 22 rebounds. The long 6'7 forward also altered many of the Dudley shots and recorded 8 blocks.

DeaconSports was on-site and caught up with Barksdale following the game for a brief chat:

DeaconSports: C.J., how big was this win for your team?
C.J. Barksdale: It was a real big win for us. Both teams were undefeated and they are one of the top teams in North Carolina and we are one of the top teams in Virginia. It was a test to see who was the best between the two states.

DeaconSports: What did you think about the atmosphere here tonight?
C.J. Barksdale: It was a packed house. Actually most of our home games are like this. It's nice to have fans like this come out and support us.

DeaconSports: When you play against a team like Dudley and a high rated prospect like P.J. Hariston, does that give you any extra motivation?
C.J. Barksdale: We just go out there and play our game. We don't really pay attention to individual things.

DeaconSports: Has anything changed in your recruitment?
C.J. Barksdale: It's still the same. I' m just focusing on my high school season and I'll worry about recruiting when the time comes.

DeaconSports: Are you still hearing from Wake?
C.J. Barksdale: Yes sir. I visited there before school started.
