Noel Remains Committed

One of Wake Forest's top recruits in the class of 2010 is cornerback Merril Noel out of Pahokee, Florida. After committing to Florida State earlier in the process, Noel changed his commitment to Wake Forest in the beginning of August and maintains that he will sign with the Demon Deacons in early February.

Merril Noel, who is currently playing basketball for Pahokee (FL) High, has also competed in the gridiron recently. "We had our All-Star game [this past weekend,"] Noel said. "I played in the Outback Bowl for the top players from Palm Beach County. I played good and didn't give up any and broke up a couple a passes and we won 26-20."

The win caps off an impressive career at Pahokee for Noel. Noel finished his 2009 campaign by making All-County and 1st Team All-Area at defensive back. Noel scored five touchdowns offensively for Pahokee had intercepted two passes during his senior year.

With his high school career over and academics in line, Noel is now prepared to enroll at Wake Forest. "Everything is going good so far," Merril Noel said. "I'm just waiting to go be a part of the family at Wake."

"The reason I chose Wake was because it was family first," Noel continued. "Everyone seems so close. It's a small school which I really like. Also, I trusted the coaching staff there."

Noel will enroll at Wake Forest in the summer. Two fellow teammates at Pahokee High, Zachary Allen and Antonio Ford, enrolled at Wake Forest this week.
