DeaconSports: Last season was your first at Good Counsel. How did it go?
Blake Countess: "It went really well. I earned a starting spot by the end of the season. We won the first championship in our school's history and beat DeMatha which was big. Overall, it was a great season."
DS: What were your stats from last season?
BC: "I ended up with around 50 tackles and 20 pass breakups. I also had a kick return for a touchdown."
DS: What are you working on this off season in preparation for next year?
BC: "I am just doing a lot of training and running right now. I'm going to work with the defensive back coach on breaking on the ball better. I am going to be playing both ways next year so I am also going to work on my receiving skills."
DS: Which school are you hearing from the most at this point in your recruitment?
BC: "I have six offers right now. They are from Maryland, Wisconsin, Pitt, West Virginia, Illinois, and Notre Dame. I am also hearing a lot from Wake, Oregon, Virginia, Georgia Tech, UNC, NC State, and Boston College."
DS: How was your trip last weekend to Wake Forest?
BC: "I liked it a lot. Wake wasn't a huge place and it seems like they are like a close knit family down there. I also like the fact that they just don't blanket offer players. They just offer ones they are really interested in. I also enjoyed the tour of the academic center. Wake seems to care a lot about academics which is a real plus because it's all about getting a good education."
DS: Do you have any more visits planned?
BC: "I will be at Rutgers the next two weeks for a combine and also a 7 on 7 event. I am going to try and go by Pitt while I am up there. I also plan on visiting Notre Dame soon."
