Willis Talks Recruiting

Wake Forest is hot on the trail of athlete Airyn Willis out of Southwest Guilford High School in North Carolina. Willis, a 6'2, 190 pound athlete, spoke with DeaconSports regarding his recruitment.

Airyn Willis is one of the state's best football prospects in 2011. With great size and speed, Willis has played quarterback, wide receiver, running back, and safety at the high school level and is being recruited as an athlete for the next level. "I'm being recruited as a quarterback, wide receiver, running back and safety," he said. "All positions really. I like them all just the same, I feel they're pretty much equal. I'm probably best at wide receiver."

Last October, after Willis was told he had an offer to East Carolina, he committed to the Pirates' program. Although he has not officially decommitted, Willis has opened things up and is looking at other schools. To date, he has visited just two schools for unofficial visits, East Carolina and N.C. State.

However, a host of schools would love to get him on campus including Wake Forest. The Demon Deacons have offered along with a host of other top programs. "East Carolina, N.C. State, Wake Forest, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Georgia Tech, South Florida, and now Louisville, those are who has offered," he said this past week. South Carolina is about to, they just haven't yet."

Although Willis has not visited for Demon Deacon practices this spring, he has been to WFU for a camp in the past. "I like their style," he noted. "I like how they practice and work with us. That's about all I know and I've met some of their coaches."

At this point, Willis says that he does not have any favorites that stick out and he will take his time in making a final decision.
