Bzdelik Takes Over Wake Forest Program

After Three Seasons at Colorado, Jeff Bzdelik has formally accepted an offer from Wake Forest to become the new coach of the Demon Deacons.

The hiring of Bzdelik ends a coaching search that lasted less than one week. Wake Forest Athletic Director Ron Wellman fired Dino Gaudio on April 7th and, fulfilling his promise made that day to "move quickly," was able to contact Bzdelik, bring him to campus for an interview, and come to an agreement on a contract in a short period of time.

Despite Bzdelik's overall record of 36-58 in his three years at Colorado, he was successful in lifting the Buffaloes from last place in the Big 12 to 8th place and a 15-16 overall record in the 2009-2010 season.

Although his first game is more than six months out, Bzdelik's next few weeks will be very busy with his first order of business being to re-affirm commitments from the five recruits set to join the Demon Deacons in the fall.

One major factor that is likely to positively affect Bzdelik's ability to re-affirm these commitments is the announced retention of Assistant Coaches Jeff Battle and Rusty Larue. Both coaches have maintained contact with the five signed recruits and, now that the hiring of Bzdelik is official, will likely look to quickly confirm all continue to be set on joining the Wake Forest program.
