Spring Football: March 4

Wake Forest's football team held spring practice #5 today at the practice fields on the WFU campus. DeaconSports was there to get notes and photos from Tuesday's practice.

- DeaconSports learned today that Wake Forest defensive end Joe Salsich has a lacerated liver and is unable to practice this spring.
- Wilmington native Cori Stukes missed practice today for what we'll call personal reasons. We expect him back at practice Wednesday.
- As noted previously on our message board, Maurice Moten and Derek Tharpe are no longer with the football team.
- Deacon seniors including Ovie Mughelli, Tarence Williams, Fabian Davis, and Ray Thomas all stopped by the practice field. Most said they really missed being out on the field.
- Ovie Mughelli, the highest rated fullback on most draftboards, said that he is ready to get the draft done and go play football. He wants to stay somewhere close to home if possible so his mom can see him play easier.
- Quarterback Cory Randolph was out wearing #12 Tuesday, a number Williams wore last season. When Williams showed up at practice, one onlooker at practice told Tarence that "a real man is wearing #12 this year."
- Damon McWhite is BIG. McWhite has Mughelli-like size and looked almost like an offensive lineman moreso than a fullback acording to another onlooker. I must say I agree.
