Reynolds Discusses WFU Interest

All-purpose back Orville Reynolds has been receiving a lot of interest from Wake Forest and now he plans on visiting the school this summer. DeaconSports spoke with Reynolds this past week to discuss his recruitment.

The Parkland (FL) Stoneman Douglas prospect is intriguing because he's very difficult to bring down when he has the ball in the open field. At 5-7 and 170-pounds Reynolds is not the kind of back that is going to carry a huge load when he reaches the Division I ranks, but coaches will want to find ways to get the ball in his hands.

Though many prospects around his size end up catching passes from the slot, Orville Reynolds said he projects as an all-purpose back. Last year for Stoneman Douglas he carried the ball 177 times for 1,329 yards and 16 touchdowns. One of his scores was on a kickoff return and on defense he intercepted a pass, showing his versatility on the field.

"Marshall and Utah State have offered me," Reynolds said this past week. "They offered last week. Cincinnati and Northwestern have been taking a lot of interest in me. Western Kentucky has offered. Everything is going pretty good so far."

Reynolds does not have an offer from Wake Forest yet but believes the Demon Deacons will send an offer his way in the near future.

"I saw coach (Ray) McCartney a couple of weeks ago when he came to our spring practice. I want to go up to their campus and check it out. I'll probably take a visit sometime in the summer and see how that goes."

"I definitely like Wake Forest," he continued. "I like their academics and I like the type of offense they run. It's something I could get used to. They want me on their campus so they can get (an offer) in writing."

Like many other uncommitted recruits Reynolds plans on making his decision before his senior year at Stoneman Douglas starts. Do any schools lead for him at this time?

"Right now I'm not really sure yet. I want to go somewhere where they can use me. I want to be used right away and I want to find a place that can use me in different ways."
