Howard Jams Home 24 On Senior Night

Wake Forest senior Josh Howard went out in style Wednesday night, scoring 24 points to help lead Wake Forest to a 75-60 victory over North Carolina.

Demon Deacon senior Josh Howard played his last game at the Joel Coliseum in a Wake Forest uniform Wednesday night. And, although the senior small forward got off to a rough start, Howard turned things around in the second half, helping Wake Forest cruise to a 75-60 victory over the Tarheels of North Carolina.

Howard came out cold, hitting just 3-11 shots in the first time frame and failing to find his rhythm on the court. "I was kind of nervous all day," Howard said after the game. "I had to settle down when I came into the locker room [at the half.]"

He did just that. In the second half, Howard scored 17 points, and pulled down a host of rebounds to help the Deacs pull away from the Heels down the stretch. Howard finished with 24 points and nine boards on the night.

Freshman Justin Gray also pitched in 16 and Jamaal Levy hit for 13 points as Wake Forest beat UNC for the 4th straight time.

With the win, the Deacs finish the season undefeated at home with a 17-0 record. Wake Forest, 22-4, 12-3, will face off with N.C. State Saturday afternoon in Raleigh. Gametime is 1:30.
