While Blake Countess isn't sure whether he would like to be part of a smaller or larger student body, the 5-10, 174-pound defensive back did admit to DeaconSports that the possibility is intriguing.
"I was at Wake Forest during February for the Wake Forest-Georgia Tech basketball game," Countless said. "I don't remember exactly when but that's around when it was.
"I remember it being really nice. Wake was small and really close-knit. I liked it a lot. It felt good. I don't know whether I want a small campus or a big campus yet, but I liked Wake."
In all, Countess has taken trips to Wake Forest, Maryland, Rutgers and West Virginia. Each of those schools had already had a chance to roll out the red carpet and make their case, and Wake Forest apparently didn't let that opportunity go to waste. They have continued to let Countess know just how important he would be to their recruiting class.
"I've talked to Coach Lambert," he said. "Coach Grobe wasn't there when I visited so I didn't get a chance to speak to him, but I did talk to my position coach, Coach Billings.
"Coach Lambert came to my school this spring and then I talked to him again once on the phone. I'll probably give him a call sometime this week."
Countess has not visited any schools this summer. He said he would probably just take unofficial visits, as opposed to attending camps, as he has received just about all of the offers he wants.
"I'll try to go to Tennessee, Louisville, Wake Forest, UNC, Duke and Purdue," he said, noting that those schools are not necessarily his favorites.
Countess is a four-star prospect and ranked the No. 18 cornerback in the nation by Scout.com.
