Ragland Talks Wake

Wake Forest picked up a big time commitment last weekend when Sherman Ragland decided to make Wake Forest his home for the next four years. DeaconSports spoke with Ragland for a quick update on his decision.

Sherman Ragland is an explosive athlete out of Southern Durham High School that can play multiple positions on the next level. After collecting offers from Wake Forest, N.C. State, South Carolina and others, Ragland decided Wake Forest was the best fit for him.

DeaconSports: How does it feel to get recruiting over with and officially be a Demon Deacon?
Sherman Ragland: "It feels great to get this weight off my chest and be a Demon Deacon. I know I picked a great school that has great people. I feel great about my next four years at Wake Forest."

DS: What made Wake the right place for you?
SR: "Wake has a great combination of academics and athletics. The coaches at Wake were great throughout the process. They were always honest with me and kept in touch regularly. Coach Russ was in contact with me often. All the people at Wake are great."

DS: What position will you play at Wake?
SR: "The coaches at Wake like me at wide receiver and free safety. That will just work itself out when I get there."

DS: Finally, what do you expect of yourself and your teammates this season at Southern Durham?
SR: "I expect to establish myself as a leader of the team. I want to push my teammates to work hard and get better everyday. I expect our team to compete for the conference championship and compete in the playoffs."
