Floyd Sold On Wake

After mulling over eleven offers and slowing narrowing his list down to five and then two, Desmond Floyd made one final college visit. This past weekend, Floyd visited Wake Forest for a third time and felt that it was clear that he wanted to be a Demon Deacon.

"I committed on Sunday," defensive end Desmond Floyd said. "They had been recruiting me for a few months. I went to their camp and they offered at camp. They then became one of my top two. It was them and Duke. I visited Saturday and there was no doubt in my mind I wanted to go to Wake Forest."

Floyd held 11 offers and had narrowed his choices down to five over the past month – Duke, Wake Forest, South Carolina, Kentucky, and N.C. State. He recently narrowed things down to Wake and Duke and ultimately felt that Wake Forest was his best fit. "I like the academics of the school," he noted. "It's a smaller environment. It's a Division I school but not a big college. I think the defense will be good this year and the staff is great."

Recruited by Coach Henry at Wake Forest, Floyd talked his verbal commitment over with his family and decided to commit to Coach Henry on Sunday night. "I committed and when I did, Coach Henry was really excited," Floyd noted.

In Floyd, Wake Forest adds a solid athlete and a great student. "I think I'm a hard worker, I'll be a good pass rusher for them, and hopefully a great leader for the Wake Forest Deacons," he said. As far as aspects of his game that he is working to improve, Floyd is working on his "all-around strength and getting faster and more powerful before going to college."

Prior to his arrival on campus, Floyd is hoping to have a successful senior season and to improve on his junior season performance where he posted 17 ½ sacks, 26 ½ tackles for loss and 40 total tackles.

"Hopefully I'll have a great year," Floyd said. "As a team, I think we'll be better. We have a young quarterback coming in but I think our defense will be better as we've played together since 10th grade."

Floyd is also an excellent student and holds a 4.1 GPA
