Steve Gleason Profile
Cougar Great player Steve Gleason will be the subject of an hour-long documentary Tuesday on "A Football Life," a weekly show on the NFL Network.
The show airs at 6 p.m. At 7, a half-hour program, "A Football Life: Backstory," provides more information about Gleason's inspiring life.
Gleason, a Spokane native, was an uncommonly popular player with the Cougars and the NFL's New Orleans Saints. He has fought courageously against ALS – "Lou Gehrig's disease" – since being diagnosed with the incurable neurological disease.
"My life is not easy," Gleason has said, "but it's awesome."
Gleason's climb up a mountain in Peru is featured in the NFL Network program. Interviews are conducted with such people as former Saints teammates Drew Brees and Scott Fujita and members of Gleason's immediate family: mother Gail (an academic advisor in the WSU Athletic Department), father Mike and younger brother Kyle.
Replays of "A Football Life" episodes run 24 hours a day on the NFL Mobile app at NFL.com/xtra.
