NFL Cougar Highlights: Week Eight

FOR THE SECOND game in a row, the Buffalo Bills had a very real chance to erase the goose-egg that's been residing in their "W" column all season, this time going down to the wire—and beyond—against Kansas City. So, when Cougar great Rian Lindell's 53-yard field goal sailed through the uprights in overtime…not so fast, my friends.

While Lindell's aim was indeed true, the Chiefs had called an "icing" timeout milliseconds before the ball was snapped. KC's plan worked, as his next kick bounced off the right upright, thereby keeping Buffalo winless through seven games this season.

Here's how the NFL Cougs performed in week eight:

Hamza Abdullah, S, Arizona, 6th season: Declared inactive for the Cardinals' 38-35 loss to Tampa Bay.

Husain Abdullah, S, Minnesota, 3rd season: Recorded five tackles (3 solo) in the Vikings' 28-18 fall to New England.

Tyron Brackenridge, CB, Jacksonville, 4th season: Posted one special teams tackle in the Jags' 35-17 win against Dallas.

Erik Coleman, S, Atlanta, 7th season: Did not play; bye week.

Jed Collins, FB, New Orleans, 2nd season : Did not play; assigned to the Saints' practice squad.

Eric Frampton, S, Minnesota, 4th season: Posted two special teams tackles (1 solo) in the Vikings' 28-18 loss to the Patriots.

Brandon Gibson, WR, St. Louis, 2nd season: The Puyallup native caught six passes for 67 yards in the Rams' 20-10 win against Carolina.

Jason Hanson, K, Detroit, 19th season: The Spokane native was perfect on two extra-point tries and one field goal (from 32 yards) in the Lions' 37-25 defeat of Washington. Hanson has played in 294 games for the Lions, eleventh all-time in NFL history and third most by a player with one franchise.

Jerome Harrison, RB, Philadelphia, 5th season: Did not play; bye week.

Jason Hill, WR, San Francisco, 4th season :Declared inactive for the 49ers'24-16 victory against Denver.

Chris Ivory, RB, New Orleans, rookie :: Gained just seven yards on 7 carries (the Saints managed just 30 ground yards on 21 carries) in the Saints' 20-10 victory against Pittsburgh. Left midway through the third quarter with a mild concussion.

Rian Lindell, K, Buffalo, 11th season: The Vancouver, Wash. native connected on one of 2 field goals attempts (made from 43; missed from 53).

Karl Paymah, DB, Houston, 6th season :Declared inactive for the Texans' Monday night contest versus the Counterfeit Colts.

Ropati Pitoitua, DE, New York Jets, 2nd season: Did not play; out for the season on injured reserve (achilles).

Marcus Trufant, DB, Seattle, 8th season: The Tacoma native tallied six stops (5 solo) in the Seahawks' 33-3 loss to Oakland.
