NFL Cougar Highlights: Week 13

FOR THE FIRST time in his 19-year NFL career, Detroit kicker Jason Hanson has been placed on injured reserve. The Washington State alum suffered a sprain to his right MCL on Nov. 7 when New York Jet Trevor Pryce rolled into his knee on a field goal attempt.

Hanson had initially hoped to resume his season by Thanksgiving, but recovery has come slower than anticipated and he was officially shelved by the Lions last week.

Prior to this season, he had missed just one game in his illustrious career and, at 295 career games, is just one game shy of tying the all-time NFL record for most games played by a player with one franchise. Now with his 2010 campaign halted, the record will have to wait until next autumn.

Hanson was in the middle of another typically stellar season, hitting 12 of 14 field goal attempts (7 of those makes from 47 yards or longer) and missing nary an extra-point.
