Since joining the Jags on Nov. 17, the Cougar great is experiencing something he did little of earlier this season with San Francisco: play. Hill had appeared in just two out of 8 games this season for the 49ers prior to his release, almost exclusively on special teams.
He caught his first touchdown pass as a Jaguar on Sunday, a 48-yard strike from David Garrard in the third quarter of Jacksonville's defeat of Oakland.
In 2008, his second NFL season, Hill appeared to have a breakout season with San Fran—his hometown—catching 30 passes for 317 yards and two TDs. He appeared in just 11 games in 2009, however, and it was speculated that Niners coach Mike Singletary had become impatient with a series of minor injuries Hill suffered prior to the season.
Here's how the NFL Cougs performed in week 14:
Hamza Abdullah, S, Arizona, 6th season: Declared inactive for the Cardinals' 43-13 takedown of Denver.
Husain Abdullah, S, Minnesota, 3rd season: Posted three tackles (1 solo) in the Vikings' 21-3 loss to the NY Giants on Monday.
Tyron Brackenridge, CB, Jacksonville, 4th season: Tallied two special teams tackles in the Jags' 38-31 victory against Oakland.
Erik Coleman, S, Atlanta, 7th season: No recorded stats for the Spokane native in the Falcons' 31-10 defeat of Carolina.
Jed Collins, FB, New Orleans, 2nd season : Did not play; assigned to the Saints' practice squad.
Eric Frampton, S, Minnesota, 4th season: Notched one special teams tackle in the Vikings' 21-3 fall to the NY Giants.
Brandon Gibson, WR, St. Louis, 2nd season: Led all Rams' receivers with four catches for 67 yards in their 31-13 loss to New Orleans. Also ran the ball once for 13 yards.
Jason Hanson, K, Detroit, 19th season: Did not play; out for the remainder of the season on injured reserve (knee).
Jerome Harrison, RB, Philadelphia, 5th season: Carried the ball one time for no gain in the Eagles' 30-27 win against Dallas.
Jason Hill, WR, Jacksonville, 4th season :Caught one pass—a 48-yard touchdown pass—in the Jags' 38-31 defeat of the Raiders.
Chris Ivory, RB, New Orleans, rookie :Gained 47 yards on 7 carries before leaving the game in the second quarter with a hamstring injury in the Saints' 31-13 waxing of St. Louis. The injury shouldn't sit him in week 15, however.
Rian Lindell, K, Buffalo, 11th season: The Vancouver, Wash. native was perfect on two field goal tries (from 30 and 19 yards) and an extra-point in the Bills' 13-7 win against Cleveland.
Karl Paymah, DB, Houston, 6th season :Did not play; out for the remainder of the season on injured reserve (wrist).
Ropati Pitoitua, DE, New York Jets, 2nd season: Did not play; out for the season on injured reserve (achilles).
Marcus Trufant, DB, Seattle, 8th season: The Tacoma native posted three tackles (1 solo) in the Seahawks' 40-21 fall to San Francisco.
