Holy cow! This Palouse product no Average Joe

NEAR THE BOTTOM of a Cougfan.com recruiting blog the other day about some of the prep prospects who have been invited to walk on at Washington State this fall was the name Tyler McNannay. He's from nearby Colfax, a football powerhouse in the Class 2B division but hardly a wellspring of Pac-10 talent. Through the power of Google, though, it's very clear why Paul Wulff wants McNannay in crimson.

As a senior in 2010, McNannay was named first-team Associated Press Class 2B All-State at three -- yes, 3 -- positions: running back, kicker and punter. He also was a standout on defense.

Two years running he helped lead Colfax to a runner-up finish in the state Class 2B playoffs.

McNannay is no ordinary kid -- or athlete -- from farm country, though. He has a cannon for a leg. He's got easy 50-yard range on field goals and booted a punt 74 yards this past season.

He has been tutored by southern California kicking guru Chris Sailer, who says, "Tyler is a very talented kicker. He has a great leg and can hit a tremendous ball. FGs are outstanding. Tons of potential here. As his kickoffs and overall consistency continue to improve, he could end up ranked near the very top of his class. Nice prospect."

McNannay is also a standout performer in basketball and baseball.

But to get a true understanding of why Paul Wulff wants him in crimson, the power of video and YouTube speaks volumes. Take a look below and you'll know why the kid from Colfax might look good in crimson ....
