Five players from WA make Scout's top 300

FOUR HIGH SCHOOL seniors-to-be from the state of Washington are included in's initial rankings of the top 300 prep football prospects in the nation in the 2012 recruiting cycle. Three hold offers from across the country and one has narrowed his focus to the four Northwest schools plus Stanford.

The top-rated in-stater in Scout's first top 300 list of the season is Puyallup offensive guard Joshua Garnett of Puyallup. He's tabbed at No. 24, and his considered the No. 1 OG prospect in the nation. The 6-5, 275-pounder has offers from Washington State and much of the Pac-12, as well as Auburn, Nebraska, Michigan, Notre Dame and others. He recently took in junior days at Cal and Oregon. He says he's keeping his mind wide open and doesn't play to start narrowing the list until closer to the state of the season.

Another offensive lineman, Zach Banner of Lakes High, is No. 45 on the top 300 and the No. 11-ranked offensive tackle in the nation. This 6-9, 295-pounder also has about 40 offers right now also says he's keeping things open. But when pressed by's Tara Turnure he listed Oregon, Washington, USC, Alabama, LSU, Michigan and Notre Dame among his favorites. His parents are WSU graduates.

Checking in at No. 157 on the list is 5-11, 170-pound Mariner High of Everett running back/defensive back Keivarae Russell. He's rated the No. 20 running back prospect in the country. He too says he's keeping his options open at this point. He has offers from WSU and much of the Pac-12, as well as Notre Dame, Vanderbilt and Boise State.

Jeff Lindquist, a 6-3, 225-pound quarterback from Mercer Island is pegged at No. 245 on the top 300 list and the No. 13 QB prospect. He has a top five of WSU, UW, Stanford, Oregon and Oregon State, but says he's primarily focused on Stanford and Washington. He's a lifelong Husky fan and his older brother players baseball for the Card. Lindquist recently told that he plans to make his decision in about a month.

Lastly, two spots down at No. 247, there's cornerback Cedric Dozier, a teammate of Banner's at Lakes High. This quick, 5-11, 175-pounder is rated the No. 14 cornerback prospect in the country. He has offers so far from Cal and Washington.
