Post spring depth chart sees movement

WASHINGTON STATE HAS RELEASED a post-spring depth chart. Although regular readers of CF.C spring ball reports won't be all that surprised, the movement still remains noteworthy. Among the positions that saw a change at the top on the pre and post-spring depth charts – defensive tackle, middle linebacker, cornerback, and tight end.

Defensively, Kalafitoni Pole went from third on the depth chart to earning the starting role at left defensive tackle. Pole, who dinged a knee late in the spring but was not expected to miss appreciable time, is backed up by Justin Clayton and Xavier Cooper -- the latter having been listed as a 265-pound defensive end to start the spring.

At middle linebacker, Mike Ledgerwood has passed C.J. Mizell on the depth chart. Ledgerwood had an excellent spring while Mizell wasn't as consistent. Louis Bland, who missed virtually the whole spring as he continues to rehab a knee, is listed as the No 3 middle linebacker.

At right cornerback, Damante Horton has taken over the No 1 spot. He played the majority of the spring session with the 1s. Aire Justin now backs him up on the depth chart, followed by Daniel Simmons, who missed the entire spring with injury. Simmons has been a starter when healthy.

At right tackle, Anthony Laurenzi, who made plenty of noise this spring, remains the starter. Brandon Rankin's spring was cut short after three practices (shoulder surgery), and he is listed as the No 2 behind Laurenzi, followed by Steven Hoffart.

Ian Knight holds down one of the starting d-end spots, with Jordan Pu-u' Robinson, who missed the spring session, as the No 2.

Travis Long remains the starting left defensive end. He missed the entire spring rehabbing a shoulder, and Skylar Stormo worked his way into the No 2 spot behind Long. Adam Coerper is listed as the No 3 left defensive end.

At strongside linebacker, Sekope Kaufusi remains the starter. He missed a good amount of time to injury and extra work in the classroom and Darryl Monroe, a true freshman, turned in impressive enough work in his absence that Monroe is now listed as the No 2 SAM after starting the spring as the third string MIKE.

AT the weakside linebacker position, Alex Hoffman-Ellis and Darren Markle remained 1-2 on the depth chart. Eric Oertel, the No 2 SAM at the start of spring, is now the No 3 WIL behind AHE and Markle.

At both safety spots, as well as left corner, the two-deeps remained the same, with Deone Bucannon and Anthony Carpenter 1-2 at strong safety, Tyree Toomer and Casey Locker 1-2 at free safety, and Nolan Washington and Brandon Golden the 1-2 at corner. Tyrone Duckett, the No 3 SAM pre-spring, has been moved to strong safety and backs up Bucannon and Carpenter. Dan Wagner remains the No 1 punter on the depth chart.

On offense, at running back Logwone Mitz remained the post-spring depth chart starter with Rickey Galvin now listed as the No 2. Galvin on the pre-spring depth chart had been listed as the No 4 running back.

At left tackle, David Gonzales remained the starter. Behind him is Jake Rodgers, who previously was the No 2 right tackle when spring began.

Left guard and right tackle have switched up, pre- and post-spring. John Fullington is now the No 1 left guard. He was listed as the starting right tackle when spring began Wade Jacobson is now the No 1 right tackle, he was the starting left guard on the pre-spring depth chart. Rico Forbes is listed as the No 2 behind Jacobson, while Tyson Pencer is the No 2 left guard behind Fullington.

Andrew Roxas and Taylor Meighen remained 1-2 at the center position, as did B.J. Guerra and Elliot Bosch at the right guard spot.

At QB, Jeff Tuel and Marshall Lobbestael remained 1-2, with Connor Halliday listed No 3 and David Gilbertson at No 4.

At tight end, Skylar Stormo moved to defense and both Andrei Lintz and Aaron Dunn had solid springs Lintz, who will be a fourth year junior, is now listed as the starter with Dunn, a redshirt freshman-to-be, the backup on the post spring depth chart.

The X, F and Z receiver spots features the same two deeps as when the spring began – X features Marquess Wilson and Bobby Ratliff; F has Isiah Barton and Gino Simone as the 1-2, and Z has Jared Karstetter and Kristoff Williams. The starting fullback, (Jared Byers), and kicker (Andrew Furney) positions remained unchanged as well.
