Cougs offer California trio

WASHINGTON STATE HAS more known offers out to state of California prospects than any other state, and as the May Evaluation period offers them more in person looks at Golden State talent, the offers continue to rise. The Cougs have now offered three from the same California high school.

Among the prep stops Washington State has made this spring during the May Eval, Lakewood High in Lakewood, Calif., about 20 minutes outside of Los Angeles. Three Lakewood prepsters subsequently earned WSU offers.

Derek Sabo (6-3, 265) is an interior o-line prospect who rates high in a number of areas – athleticism, explosion and the ability to get to the second level -- and to be productive once he gets there.

Darius Powe (6-2, 186) is one of two well known wide receiver prospects coming out of Lakewood High this cycle. He has offers from half the Pac-12 plus schools like Nebraska. As a junior, he had 48 receptions for 830 yards and six touchdowns.

Malik Gilmore, like Powe, began the recruiting year being called a sleeper by some. No longer. In addition to Washington State, he holds offers from ASU, Oregon State and Utah in the Pac-12, plus Notre Dame and Michigan. He had 26 receptions for 463 yards and six touchdowns.
