Q&A: Mike Levenseller

BIG THINGS ARE being forecast for the WSU wide receivers in 2011, the position group that is arguably the most talented and deepest on the Washington State roster. We had a chance recently to catch up with the position coach, Mike Levenseller, to get his take on all things Wazzu wide receivers..

Wide receiver is probably the position group that Cougar fans are most excited about for the upcoming season. What excites you about this group, maybe the one thing that makes them stand out?
Mike Levenseller: "I think it is very diverse, to tell you the truth. I think it could be the deepest group I have ever coached. I haven't said it is the best, I think our AD has put that out there (laugh)… But they are really good. We are really deep, if you don't play hard the next guy can go in and play hard. I feel like that is the strength."

Speaking of depth, who is player that you could see breaking out this year that Cougar fans are not so familiar with?
Mike Levenseller: "I would say Kristoff Williams, because of the redshirt and injury last year he is someone people haven't seen. He started coming on in spring ball real well. The two freshmen that were there in spring are pretty good, Isiah Myers and Henry Eaddy did a really nice job in the spring. Then other freshmen coming in…Rahmel Dockery has a chance to play."

Dockery is a player that fans are excited about -- do you see him being used on special teams and other areas of the game?
Mike Levenseller: "I would think you would, but that is all a long way down the road."

Marquess Wilson was a player that really broke out last year. If he puts in the work, where is his ceiling?
Mike Levenseller: "He was a freshman All-American, I truly believe he can be an All-American. He's got to work on getting stronger so when people get in his face he can handle it. To make it where they better not come up or he is going to hurt them. He had a good spring, we're getting there. He did a really good job in school, all of them did. I have fun going to work every day with these guys, top to bottom."
